Experience
Kim Longo represents debtors, trustees, creditors and other parties in interest in bankruptcy and other proceedings of varying sizes. Her experience spans a wide range of bankruptcy matters, including general estate administration, the sale of some or all of a debtor's assets, the prosecution of avoidance and other actions, and the determination of claims.
Since 2011, Ms. Longo’s primary focus has been bankruptcy-related litigation, most notably as one of two lead attorneys in the firm's representation of the Trustee for the SIPA liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC. Through this and other representations, she has successfully litigated in numerous federal courts, engaged in complex mediations/negotiations, and been at the forefront of emerging bankruptcy and other legal issues.
On the transactional side, Ms. Longo has represented secured and unsecured lenders, borrowers, and equity participants in connection with the origination of senior and mezzanine loans, joint ventures, lines of credit, and syndicated loan participations. She has particular experience in the structuring of bankruptcy-remote entities and providing non-consolidation and other legal opinions for secured loan financings.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Longo was an associate in the financial restructuring department of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, LLP. While attending New York University School of Law, Ms. Longo was a member of the Annual Survey of American Law. She worked as an accountant prior to receiving her law degree, earning her license as a Certified Public Accountant.
