Windels Marx Promotes Three to Partner: Tony Casas, Wayne Cook, Jr., and Scott Matthews

Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf LLP announced today Antonio J. Casas, Wayne S. Cook, Jr., and Scott R. Matthews have become partners of the Firm, Mr. Casas in the Madison, New Jersey office and Messrs. Cook and Matthews in the New York City office.

Windels Marx's newest partners enhance the Firm's capabilities in its Litigation & Alternative Resolution and Real Estate Practice Groups.

Mr. Casas has been a member of the Firm's Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group since 2001. His practice consists mainly of handling complex coverage and regulatory cases for insurance companies both at the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Casas's practice also includes state and federal cases involving general contract and business disputes both on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Casas began his career at the Criminal Appeals Bureau of the Legal Aid Society in New York City and remains involved in criminal law serving as Public Defender for the Municipal Court of the Borough of Peapack-Gladstone. Mr. Casas graduated summa cum laude from Providence College in 1989 with a bachelor of arts in economics. He earned his juris doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1992.

Mr. Cook joined the Firm's Real Estate Practice Group in 2005. He represents institutional lenders in real estate financing transactions such as mortgage loans and mezzanine loans. He also represents clients in connection with real estate acquisitions, dispositions, purchase and sale of various loans, and workouts and restructuring of distressed loans on behalf of borrowers and lenders. Mr. Cook earned a bachelor of science in finance at St Johns University in 1992 and a juris doctorate from New York Law School in 1998.

Mr. Matthews joined the Firm's Litigation & Alternative Resolution Practice Group in July of 2004. His practice consists mainly of representing clients in commercial litigation matters involving breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, commercial real estate, asset recovery, and life and disability insurance coverage. Mr. Matthews also devotes a significant portion of his time to representing companies and senior executives in employment matters. Mr. Matthews graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor of arts in history in 1996 and received his juris doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in 1999, where he received the Philip R. Fusco Memorial Award.
