Samuel G. Destito

Samuel G. Destito represents insurance, banking, and land use clients in a regulatory matters, coverage disputes, and land development disputes. He handles civil litigation, including complex breach of contract actions, consumer fraud matters, business disputes, and disability and accidental death claims.

Mr. Destito represented major property and casualty insurers in their lobbying efforts before the New Jersey Legislature in the debate over the New Jersey Auto Reform Act of 1998. He also represents a number of major life and health insurers on regulatory matters before the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. In addition, Mr. Destito is Special Counsel to the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

Mr. Destito served as Governor Whitman's Chief Counsel in her 1997 re-election campaign. In 1993, he was a member of the Governor's statewide steering committee during her successful gubernatorial primary and general election campaigns and was coordinator of her Passaic County campaign. Mr. Destito also served as co-chair of the Governor's Law and Public Safety Transition Team. In 1994, Mr. Destito was chosen by Governor Whitman to serve as Protocol Ambassador to the 1994 World Cup Organizing Committee.

Mr. Destito is a member of the Passaic County, Mercer County, New Jersey State, and American Bar Associations. He serves as a member of the Chilton Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. After graduating from Rutgers University School of Law, he served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Nicholas G. Mandak in the New Jersey Superior Court, Passaic County, and was appointed by Judge Mandak to serve as an arbitrator for the Superior Court Mandatory Arbitration Program.
