Joseph P. Benanti has extensive experience in commercial financing and leasing transactions, restructurings/workouts, creditors' rights litigation, and bankruptcy. He has been practicing in these areas for approximately 27 years. His representation of clients involves complex litigation matters, as well as equipment financing and leasing transactions (covering various collateral types, including aircraft), throughout the United States as well as internationally, ranging in size from $50,000 to $50 million. Mr. Benanti also has notable experience practicing before the Connecticut Appellate Court and various federal district and bankruptcy courts.
During Mr. Benanti's legal career, he has served as a Region Attorney with General Electric Capital Corporation (GE Capital) where he was responsible for representing GE Capital in equipment financing and leasing transactions (including aircraft loan, lease and sale transactions), in commercial matters, and in loan and lease restructurings. At GE Capital, Mr. Benanti developed a proficiency in preparing and negotiating loan, lease and other commercial documentation; analyzing bankruptcy, fraudulent conveyance, lender liability, structuring and related legal risks; collateral repossessions; and complex bankruptcy and litigation matters.
