The October 28-November 10, 2014 edition of the New York Real Estate Journal (NYREJ) recognized three of our Real Estate lawyers in its "Women in Real Estate Spotlight 2014" (pages 92-93).

Jeanine Margiano, Partner, was asked, "In the last 12 months, which project, transaction, honor or accomplishment are you most proud of and why?"

  • "I represented a well-known developer of multifamily buildings across NYC in connection with an $80 million credit facility for a sixteen building portfolio, which included the execution of a swap on each facility. There were many sophisticated real estate challenges compounded by a time-of-the-essence deadline. This deal highlighted the importance of leadership in a collaborative environment when formulating creative solutions in a timely manner."

Dalila Best, Associate, was asked, "Who are three women - living or dead - that you would like to have drinks with and why?"

  • "I'd have drinks with Eleanor Roosevelt, Michelle Obama and Beyoncé because they've each achieved great professional success while maintaining a staunch commitment to family. I'd hope to learn from the FLOTUS who pioneered the concept of using the position as a platform to impact the country, from a brilliant mind who took the modern position of FLOTUS to new heights of visibility and results (especially for the health and well-being of our youth), and from a woman whose work ethic, drive and creativity have combined to birth a media/entertainment/consumer machine that even Harvard Business School couldn't help but study."

Taila Martin, Associate, was asked, "In the last 12 months, which project, transaction, honor or accomplishment are you most proud of and why?"

  • "I have been intimately involved in the financing of several affordable housing projects, many of which included supportive services for special needs populations, including homeless, veterans, or senior citizens. These transactions generally require the cooperation at the local, state and national level. Here in NYC, which is one of the most active affordable housing markets in the nation, key players in this industry are invested in and committed to expanding the affordable and supportive housing. I am proud to be a part of a team providing legal services to increase housing and services for these important segments of our society."

Jeanine, Dalila and Taila each reside in the New York office. Congratulations to all of the women profiled.
