Event - Nina Silfen Discusses Estate Planning with Parents of Special Needs Teens

On June 18, 2012, Nina Silfen (Special Counsel, New York) spoke before a group of parents of special needs teenagers at Rebecca School (Manhattan) on the subject of estate planning for families of children with special needs. Her talk encompassed general estate planning concepts, the importance of supplemental needs trusts and the appointment of guardians of the person and the property for disabled individuals.

Nina has significant experience counseling parents of children with special needs, including those with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders. Nina works with families to formulate estate plans that are not only tax efficient, but also address state law issues, including supplemental needs trusts that allow their children to qualify for government benefits. She recently wrote an article entitled "Estate Planning for Special Needs Children: Peace of Mind for Parents."
