1956-2016

Clifford H. Stein concentrated on mortgage finance and other real estate transactions for institutional clients.

Significant matters that Mr. Stein handled included representation of an institutional lender in a $700 million mortgage financing of a midtown Manhattan office building; representation of an institutional investor in a joint venture, including $70 million in acquisition and redevelopment loans for a mixed-use, office-residential redevelopment project in Wilmington, Delaware; and representation of an institutional lender in a $97 million mortgage financing of six assisted living and two skilled nursing facilities at multiple locations in Florida and New Jersey.

Prior to joining Windels Marx, Mr. Stein spent more than 11 years as in-house counsel, focusing on real estate finance, at Home Life Insurance Company (1990-93) and New York Life Insurance Company (1982-90). From 1980 to 1982, he was Assistant Counsel, Commercial Real Estate, at the New York State Mortgage Loan Enforcement Corporation, a subsidiary of the New York State Urban Development Corporation.

Mr. Stein was a member of the Real Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.
